Who Can Apply?
Suncoast Academy is open to any student who resides in the school districts of Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties. Students are considered for admission without regard to race, religion, gender, or national or ethnic origin.
How Enrollment Works
A lottery system is used during the application and open enrollment period when the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available openings.
Lottery Process
The lottery process begins by placing the numbers of all eligible
applicants into a container. A non-employee, non-board representative
of Suncoast Academy draws one number at a time beginning with the lowest
grade level where an opening is available.
Each selected applicant is checked against the sibling list so that
older siblings may receive an automatic position when space is available
at that grade level.
After all available positions have been filled at each grade level, the
lottery continues with the remaining applicants who submitted their
applications during the appropriate enrollment window. These applicants
are the first to be offered a position if openings become available
during the summer or school year.
Applications received after the published enrollment deadline are still
accepted but are considered after applicants from the initial lottery
have either accepted or declined available positions. If additional
openings remain, another lottery is conducted for those applicants.
Enrollment is not first come, first served.
