The school agrees to enroll an eligible kindergarten through fifth grade student by accepting a timely application starting the last week of February of the current school year through the first week of March of the current school year. Students entering sixth – eighth grades should submit their online application now through Decemeber 22, 2023.

If the target number of students is not met by dates outlined above, the school will give sufficient public notice and extend the application deadline through the start date of the upcoming school year. If the number of applications exceeds the capacity or the program, class, or grade level, all applicants will have an equal opportunity of being admitted through a random selection process. Preference may be given to siblings of students enrolled in the school, to the children of a member of the governing board of directors, or to the child of an employee of the school.

All Applications that are turned in during the dates outlined previously are logged and assigned a number. We assess how many applicants turned in completed paperwork as compared to openings at that particular grade level. If the amount is more, we do a random draw. If the amount is less, all eligible students are admitted.

The random draw process starts with putting all numbers of eligible applicants into a container. A non-employee, non-board personnel of Suncoast Academy draws one number out of the container at a time for the lowest grade level that there is an opening. This number is then checked against the list for siblings to allow older siblings an automatic position if room is available at that grade level. After all vacant slots have been filled at each grade level, we then continue the lottery process with the remaining numbers for applicants that brought their applications in during the appropriate time window. These applications will be the first offered a position if openings occur during the summer or school year. Any application received after the deadlines outlined above will be accepted but will not be considered until after all additional applicants from the first lottery have either filled spots or turned down openings. At that time, we will put all applicants into a lottery system again to fill openings at a grade level. It is not first come/first serve but an additional lottery for all applicants that turned in an application after the outlined timelines.
